Resolving Conflicts

Team Challenge

How does a team handle conflict? What if one member is not working as hard? Successful teams learn to work through conflict. That sounds great, but how does a team resolve conflicts? This exercise helps set the stage for your team to develop a prior agreement - a social contract - to help the team in the future.

What are the goals of the team—finish the project, win the competition, learn more about science and global warming, meet international students? How much does everyone agree to work? How will the team treat its members? How will the team resolve disputes? How will the team know when it has gone too far or hurt someone's feelings and what will it do then? How will the team "discipline" itself?
