Step 9: Secure Forward Commitment

Your Challenge

In order to complete this step you must find at least 5 homeowners, businesses, schools, or any other community group; to commit paying you for an audit of their electrical apppliances.

The Forward Commitment form asks for the following information:

I give my permission for an energy audit of my property at the noted amount
I will guarantee this student's loan for the noted amount

You can print as many of these forms as you need. To complete your initial business plan for Meter Corps, you need to find at least 5 customers who are willing to pay you for your services. The amount you earn needs to be eough to pay back the cost of your starter kit.

Process

BASIC LEVEL: Print the pdf version of the "Forward Commitment" form and fill it out as directed for each customer (home owner or business owner). The cost of the audit is for you to decide (or if you are working within a team or group effort, then for your team to decide). We suggest that you research what home energy audits cost in your area and charge less. You can also ask your potential customers "What would you be willing to pay for this kind of service?" and then decide what to charge.

Each customer signing a Forward Commitment is agreeing to the fee you mutually determine. Their signature on this form also assures you that you can pay back the business loan we are going to give you to get started, and shows reviewers that you have what it takes to sell your serivces.

  GRAB YOUR POINTS!  

  1. Log into eFolio. Fill out the summary sheet which lists each of the Forward Commitments and upload that to your "Meter Corps" folder. Title your entry with [Your Name]-[Challenge title]-[Process Level] (e.g.  David Gibson-Forward Commitments Summary-BASIC) so that we can credit you for your work!

2. Fill out a survey form for each Forward Commitment
