About Green Earth Corps
Purpose Statement
- Our strategy is to collaborate with non-governmental organizations, government agencies and corporations worldwide to reach teachers and students of all ages everywhere – in middle and high schools, in colleges and universities – to establish and maintain a global energy audit corps.
- Our goal is to engage teachers and students – representing nearly one-third of the world population – in a massive coordinated effort to address climate change (global warming) by leveraging information technologies and global communications networks.
- Our objective is to mitigate up to 68% of the carbon emissions from the use of electricity in homes, businesses and communities by empowering educators and students to help consumers identify and address stand-by power loss and inefficient electric appliances.
- Our belief is that for civilization to avert catastrophic climate change our goal and objective must be accomplished over the next two decades . . . or sooner!
The Green Earth Corps is a program of Global Challenge, SolarQuest® local area program partners. The GEC is designed to engage youth and adults in reducing carbon emissions from household electric appliances. Currently, three levels of participation are offered in the GEC: the Meter Corps, the Audit Corps and ACTS Team. The Meter and Audit Corps are both individual and group program levels. ACTS is a school- and/or community-based training program to prepare youth for the Meter and Audit Corps and to aid communities in creating energy profiles of their housing and small business sectors.
