Team Challenge

What is this thing - product or service? How does is basically work?

Resources

Use the Rubric to guide your work! This is a major hint for teams that want to win. Each person on the team should look over the "Technical Description" section of the rubric and create ideas for the group to consider. This is the biggest and most complex section of your work.

Process

BASIC LEVEL Here is a list of issues to include for the foundation of the section. Doing these alone won't get you a "wow" from the judges and investors, but NOT doing them would be a bad thing.

  • Create an introductory paragraph about the product.
  • Provide a general narrative explanation of how this product works in 2 to 5 paragraphs.
  • Describe how the product relates to global warming and the world's energy future.
  • Describe what the product does to reduce greenhouse gasses or otherwise address global climate change.

GRAB YOUR POINTS!

1. Log into eFolio. Place your work into your team's "GBP & TIP Challenges" folder. Title your entry with [Your Name]-[Challenge title]-[Process Level] (e.g.  David Gibson-Title-BASIC) so that we can credit you for your work

2. Evaluate the Challenge.

GOING BEYOND Want to "wow them?" Consider these points:

  • Include product drawings.
  • Make an illustration that shows how your solution relates to global climate change.

GOING CRAZY For the "way out there" crowd, do these too:

  • Describe what is innovative about the product including its proprietary features.
  • Discuss the science, technology, engineering and mathematics that makes these features possible.
  • Describe how the product integrates with existing devices, products or services.
  • Discuss cradle to cradle design as it applies to the lifetime usage of the product.

And...as always, document who on your team is fulfilling these kinds of roles in this section's work and save these notes for your "Key Personnel" section!

  • Task Leader, (Research Team Leader, Team Leader)
  • Documentation (writing, editing, putting things together, linking to standards)
  • Resources (finds and gets stuff)
  • Evaluation and team reflection role (process monitor role)
