What is Your Ecological Footprint?

How big are your feet? Well, your "carbon footprint" anyway.

Using the Ecological Footprint Calculator or Consumer Consequences or My Footprint, evaluate your ecological footprint, explore the information on these sites and think about what it means.  Then,

GRAB YOUR POINTS! (Don't know what this means? Find out!)

Complete the following:

  1. What was the most surprising thing you discovered about your carbon footprint?
  2. Prepare a summary of your personal carbon footprint and post it on a Team Page to share with your teammates. Using the comment feature in your Team Space, hold a team discussion and compare your footprint with your teammates'  footprints.  How are they the same?  How are they different?  You can do this either synchronously (all at the same time) or asynchronously (post and respond to messages at your convenience)
  3. What is the most surprising thing you learned from Question 2?  Are your teammates'  footprints much different than your own?  Why is that?
  4. As a team, make some kind of creative representation of your footprints'  impact on the environment with Google Sketch-Up, Gliffy, GE Imagination Cubed, or some other graphic design software.  Try to show the global differences and similarities between your footprints.  Attach it in your Team Page.
